House in Astypalaia / licenced

This house is found at the lowest borderline of Astypalea’s chora, expending a narrow lot of only 5m x 17m with no ability to have any openings towards the great view of the Aegean Sea.

The challenge was to contemplate these restrictions and create a holiday house with a separate autonomous guest room.

In order to exploit the breathtaking view, the basic concept was to break the volume in two (main & guest) and create a central yard where all the inhabitants gather. At the same time from the inside of both volumes, there are little glimpses of the view through strategically put tiny square openings that intensify the experience of the view.
